Lighting Deconstructed: Helmut Newton
Dana Pennington and I are back in the studio to present another Deconstructing the Lighting. Today we are going to tackle one of Helmut Newton’s photographs. As I mentioned in the video, this photograph that we chose is from one of my favorite bodies of work that Newton photographed, called Big Nudes.
Dana and I studied the photograph that we chose for the lighting source and direction. Although Helmut probably used continuous light and we are using strobes, I think we got fairly close to what Helmut Newton did. Watch on as we explore how to deconstruct a Helmut Newton image by studying the image and then figuring out where the light is coming from and where to direct it.
